  1. After the incredible 2007 spring turkey season Larry and I had we could not wait to get back in the woods spring of 08. We started our year on a 4 day KS hunt that ended with one Jake on the ground and 3 missed opportunities. Most of our problems in KS were due to camera equipment, although we did manage to fluff a couple shots ourselves. We had something go wrong on every hunt we were on.
Missouri season opened 3 weeks later and we were ready to have a change of luck, but I guess it was not in the cards this year. We hunted all but 4 days of the MO season and came up empty handed. Chad Johnson with Brookeview Taxidermy came in town and hunted a couple days with us and was able to harvest his first MO gobbler with a bow. Congrats to Chad on your first MO bird! He is a great guy and one heck of a taxidermist. There is a link to his website on the partner’s page of our HB website. I almost connected on another big tom that same morning, but as Larry and my season went all along the bird got nervous before I could get drawn. It is pretty hard to hit them when they have the Nike Airs laced up tight. We did head back across the border for one more KS hunt which ended up being the highlight to our season. Larry had his first double on two nice toms.
I guess we can chalk the MO 2008 spring season as the ones that got away. We had about 10 hunts that could have been great hunts if the birds had not gotten nervous. Don’t get me wrong, we did blow a couple golden opportunities as well. There’s always next year!
KS season still has two weeks left and I have one more tag to burn, so we are going to try and make it out there to fill my last KS tag.

    Not giving up yet,
    Ty and Larry

  2. Good luck in KS guys!! hope to be seeing some pics.
